Beginning in radio, their master/clown relationship soon transferred onto the screen and developed into a weekly show. Many of today’s comedians, including Jerry Seinfeld, accredit these early funny guys with their own yearning to make people laugh.
Touted as probably the most successful comedy team in history, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis met in the late 1940’s. Martin was the incredibly handsome, sexy womanizer, while Lewis was the gawky, awkward, funny guy. Audiences had never experienced a team such as this, and from the moment they began, they took top billing. Sixteen movies followed a vaudevillian stage act; each reprising the standard roles that made the two so well known.
